3. Local Storage

The citations you add to your bibliography are stored in your browser's localStorage — this means they are stored locally on your device only. We cannot access, read, or retrieve this data. It never leaves your browser.

You can clear your saved citations at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or using the delete function within the tool.

4. Third-Party APIs

When you use our auto-fill feature, your browser may send a request to the following third-party services:

• Open Library API (openlibrary.org) — when you enter an ISBN to auto-fill book details. Open Library's privacy policy applies to these requests.
• CrossRef API (api.crossref.org) — when you enter a DOI to auto-fill journal article details. CrossRef's privacy policy applies to these requests.

These are public APIs. We do not send any personal data to these services — only the ISBN or DOI you enter.

5. Cookies

We use only one piece of browser storage: a localStorage entry called theme that saves your light/dark mode preference, and a harvard_citations entry that stores your bibliography locally. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies.

6. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand general usage patterns (such as how many visitors use the site). Any such analytics are aggregated and anonymised — no personally identifiable information is collected. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising-based tracking platforms.

7. Google Fonts

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). This means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you visit our site. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle this data.
